THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE
Resident
As we approach the summer months, more and more of us will be enjoying the countryside.
However people do work in the countryside and recently we have had a couple of incidents of friction between landowners and recreational users of the countryside.
Remember, farmers fields are private land.
Please kept to marked footpaths, do not enter buildings, and give livestock the respect they deserve. Whilst sheep might run to the edge of a field, cattle usually get overcome by curiosity, but Cattle also have strong maternal instincts and will do anything to protect their calf.
Dogs should be places on leads around livestock, and if a dog is worrying livestock a farmer DOES have the power to despatch the dog.
By following the Countryside Code hopefully everyone can enjoy and work in the countryside peacefully and in harmony.
