Independent Traffic Survey Highlights Significantly Underestimated Traffic Levels

The Parish Council has commissioned its own Traffic Survey Report prepared by TTP Consulting.

The councils principal concern being with respect to any proposed development is additional traffic passing down

Great Houghton High Street, especially as our residents tell us that the road is busy and many drivers

use it as a rat run. You will see that the survey used ANPR technology to identify drivers passing

through the village. The Report formally shows that a significant proportion of traffic using

the High Street is through traffic.

The Report also identifies that figures used by the developers at Hampton Green may be

incorrect in that the vehicle trip generation figures indicate that only 100 dwellings have been accounted for. The total consented dwellings at Hampton Green is 525.

The council is concerned that the figures for Hampton Green may have significantly underestimated

associated levels of traffic, including that which is likely to pass through the village.

The council is seeking to ensure that the issue with respect to data for Hampton Green is verified and

altered where necessary, including within West Northants’ Strategic Transport Model and that the

level of through traffic estimated to pass down the High Street, is accurate, given that the survey

records the proportion of that through traffic.
