You should have received today, along with all other residents, notice relating to Land at The Green, Great Houghton (see link below) and the proposed development of some 800 new houses. This proposed development being contained in the Northampton Local Plan Part Two.
Needless to say such a significant development will no doubt have considerable impact on the village, especially for those living along The Green and the High Street.
You should also be aware of the parish council’s previous responses to such a development (available on our website and in our local neighbourhood plan)
Whilst it is most unlikely that we will be able to prevent such an application being approved, the parish council will seek to do all it can in order to obtain measures to mitigate against adverse impact as well as ensuring appropriate actions are taken and services provided to ensure that we are best able to provide for what will amount to three times the current number of parish residents.
The parish council is arranging to meet with Homes England, and council representatives will be attending the proposed visual workshop on the 17 July. We would urge all residents to attend the community drop-in sessions at the village hall on Thursday 13th or Friday 14 July.
In order to ensure that the council is best able to represent the residents views, the council is keen to ensure that its current vacancy is filled at the earliest opportunity and, ideally by someone resident in The Green or the High Street.
If you would be interested in joining the council, please contact the Parish Clerk.
