The Parish Council was most delighted with the support received from neighbours throughout the village in its ‘Picnic’ on Your Front Lawn’ to mark the 75th Anniversary of VE- Day organised jointly with the Playing Field Association.
The weather was extremely kind and everyone retained sensible and safe, distancing throughout.
The colourful displays were most impressive, bringing a real warm sense of of village community spirit, much needed during these somewhat difficult times.
One can only imagine the extreme hardship suffered 75 years ago following six years of War! Although one or two residents were able to recall their personal experience of the massive celebrations on the 8th May 1945.
The council would wish, in particular, to thank Phil &Traci from the White Hart for the tremendous effort they went too outside the pub, especially in view of their current and ongoing trading restrictions.
The judges had a very difficult time deciding the winners of the best dressed garden, such was the efforts of everyone. They have however determined that the £15 voucher prizes should go to: David & Adam Gibson, Liz & Mark Blinco, and Bill & Peggy Garner. Many congratulations to them.
The Parish Council hopes that residents will consider future similar ‘picnics’ on their front lawn, f course, subject to ongoing varying Government restrictions.
